Propagandist Organization ‘Media Matters’ Propagandizes

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2011/09/24

I know, right? Totally shocking that the Left-wing propaganda outfit “Media Mutters” would actually engage in blatant propaganda!eleventy! Hube quotes the recent Media Mutters propaganda:

At the Fox News-Google GOP presidential debate, co-moderator Chris Wallace used the pejorative term “illegals” to refer to undocumented immigrants and read a question from the public that used the term, as well. Journalists have called on the media to stop using the term “illegals,” but Fox’s “straight news” shows use it consistently nonetheless.

“Journalists have called on the media…” Wait, what? Car companies have called on the car manufacturers to … Makes as much sense there, bub. And it’s not all journalists who have called on journalists to propagandize. Just some of them.

But let’s get to the issue. If someone is in this or any other country illegally, that someone is an illegal alien. It’s just the facts of the matter. But Media Mutters wants people to believe that stating the truth is a pejorative while using a rosy euphemism is honest. What a load of hooey. This sort of thing sounds like something the radical Socialist George Soros and his anti-American Open Society Institute would say. Wait, hasn’t George Soros pumped huge amounts of cash into Media Mutters’ treasury? Must just be a coincidence. (As Jethro Gibbs says, I don’t believe in coincidence.)

But what is it with these Leftist nutballs, anyway? I have a few thoughts on that.

The Left has owned the media for several decades so they’re used to being able to frame the debate and change the definitions of words in order to fit their agenda almost without challenge. Since the advent of the New Media, which the Dinosaur Media cannot control, the “gatekeeper” status of Old Media is nigh vanished, to the Left’s utter dismay. As the Left’s powerlock on information control collapses, the Left will go through ever greater hysterics, which merely serve to hasten their own demise. (Oops, that’s gonna get me reported to #AttackWatch.)

“Crazy” Larry rants again

Posted by Hube on 2011/09/24

MSDNC’s Keith Olbermann replacement, “Crazy” Larry O’Donnell, went on yet another idiotic rant the other night, this time about GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry:

And secondly, the Republican party of the 21st century, if we are to judge by the debate audiences, has obviously lost its soul . . . This Twilight Zone: how can this happen? Here’s their favorite killer, state-sanctioned killer up there. They boo him after he calls them heartless.

Right. So now we’re going to judge the entire GOP by the reactions/utterances of a few idiots at some debates. Boy, this tactic sounds familiar — what was done to the Tea Party! Y’know, I wonder why when a few assorted knuckleheads at Democratic events make a scene that the entire party isn’t so labeled … nah. I don’t wonder why. It’s so pathetically obvious by now, why. Yeesh.

Oh, and Larry — if you’re so concerned about “state-sanctioned killing,” when will you do a semi-coherent rant about liberal states’ abortion policies? If you’re SOOOO concerned about the government getting involved in “killing,” where’s the concern about purely innocent life? Why do so-called “progressives” seem to always reserve their outrage for the executions of heinous killers? Our old friend Perry is a textbook example (surprise!) of this; in comments here and at CSPT he believes he has a consistent “pro-life” view because he “personally” is against abortion and capital punishment. However, when pressed on the issue, he admitted that he “doesn’t have the right” to tell a woman what to do with her body … but he does believe it his duty (right) to lobby state legislatures to abolish the death penalty. The counter to this is, obviously, why does Perry believe he has the right to overturn what a jury and judge(s) have determined through a lengthy judicial process when it comes to a brutal killer … but not to tell a woman she cannot terminate the life of a 100% innocent baby?

It makes not one iota of moral sense. Much like, as you may have recently read, his views on Israel and the Palestinians which are also shared by far too many fellow “progressives.”

Next Big Collapse: The UAW?

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2011/09/24

The news is out. The UAW is in financial difficulty. Based on the reports, without major changes, the UAW could be facing bankruptcy within 5 years. From The Truth About Cars comes the news. (HT Tea Party Patriots)

What they wrote may not have been known in public. The Detroit automakers are well aware of the perilous state of the UAW. In the run-up of the contract negotiations with the UAW this summer, one automaker did what one should do before going into battle: Assess the strength or weakness of the adversary. In-house economists of a Detroit company came back with a surprising piece of intelligence: The UAW is hollowed-out and heading for disaster.

In many ways, the UAW resembles the companies it opposed for so long. The UAW is America’s richest union. One of its biggest assets is its strike fund, which stood at $763 million at the end of 2010. If push comes to shove, a union is as strong as its strike fund. The trouble is: The UAW spends more than it takes in. Increasingly, the union has to dip into the strike fund, the Reuters report says. According to government filings, the UAW liquidated $222 million of investments from 2007 to 2009 to cover the shortfall between expenses and revenue.

In 2003, the UAW funded 1 percent of its 325.1 million dollar annual operating costs via selling assets and investments.

In 2007, the UAW funded 6.2 percent of its 327.6 million dollar annual operating costs via selling assets and investments.

In 2010, the UAW funded 22.9 percent of its 274.0 million dollar annual operating costs via selling assets and investments.

Reuters reports the UAW Labor Bureau filings are the source of the above data.

It looks like unless the UAW practices some serious Conservative austerity (like that’ll happen), it’s going to fail. It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of anti-competitive business destroyers. Bless their little hearts.
