Obama Creates Bipartisanship On “Jobs” Bill

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2011/09/16

You read that right, folks. The Obama Administration’s “Jobs” bill has created bipartisanship. So Barack Obama has managed to get bipartisan cooperation after all. But it’s not to Obama’s liking. Obama and his handlers created a bill so poisonous that he knew no Republican would vote for it; every Republican would vote against it. That was his plan and his intention from the start. Obama knows his poll numbers are falling deeper and deeper into the sludge pit and he has to do something, anything, to get the voters’ support to return to him. And what better way than to produce a piece of bile so antithetical to the Republican agenda for the country that all Republicans could then be charged with “putting the party ahead of the country?”

But the whole thing has backfired in a major way for Barack Obama and his radical Leftist cohorts. As I reported Wednesday, Senator Jim Webb (D – VA) whose seat is up in 2012 but is not running for reelection, Senator Tom Carper (D – DE) whose seat is perfectly safe, Senator Mary Landrieu (D – LA) whose seat is not up for reelection this time around are all on record opposing Democrat President Barack Obama’s “jobs” bill. Today, you can add more Democrat Senators who are opposed to the Democrat President’s “jobs” bill plan. Add to that list Senators Mark Begich (D – AK) whose seat is not up, Barbara Mikulski (D – MD) whose seat is one of the safest, Bob Casey (D – PA) who faces stern opposition in his reelection bid.

The Obama Administration, who likes to talk a good game about cooperation and compromise, made it very clear his “jobs” bill is all-or-nothing. Senator Casey’s response?

“I’m afraid if we tried to pass one big bill, I think there’s a lot of skepticism about big pieces of legislation with all kinds of different component parts. We should break this up”, said Casey. He later stated, “Why not have a series of votes on job creation strategies – five votes, 10 votes, I don’t care if it’s 25 votes.”

Obviously if Obama’s poison pill of a “jobs” bill gets broken up, there is no chance that many of the most poisonous parts survive the break-up. And the break-up has Democrat support. As Ed Morrissey said:

“The vast majority”? [quoting David Plouffe] It only takes four of them to keep it from passing on a floor vote, as Democrats only have a 53-47 advantage in the Senate. In the news report itself, there are already enough Democrats objecting to derail it entirely. Mark Begich, Jim Webb, Mary Landrieu, and Barbara Mikulski are all named in this report as opposing the bill. None of them face voters in 2012, having to explain backing tax hikes, massive new spending, and a rerun of the 2009 Porkulus flop. If Mikulski objects to the bill, will Ben Nelson in Nebraska back it? Claire McCaskill in Missouri? Mark Pryor, who has to stand for re-election in Arkansas in 2014? None of the endangered Democrats in the next two cycles will dare vote for $450 billion in new spending to do the exact same thing that didn’t work in 2009.

And quite frankly, this is the very reason Harry Reid won’t bring the bill up for a vote in the Senate. So far, there are 1 in 6 Democrat Senators opposed to it. The whole thing is an unmitigated disaster for Democrats who were looking for a campaign issue. Obama was hoping Democrats would follow him in putting Party over Country, but quite a few Democrats are balking. Whether it’s Country or plain ol’ Survivability, the Democrats are starting to line up in opposition to Obama and in alignment with Republicans.

Thank you, Narcissist in Chief Obama.

“That’s stupid, you are obviously not a Jew.”

The confrontation started because they thought the BBC reporter was a Jew and ended when they found out he wasn’t. As Professor Jacobson rightly said, there’s your Arab Spring for you.

#AttackWatch

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2011/09/16

Are you a Leftist? Do you want to report your neighbor for things he or she said against your Dear Leader? Do you want to help Big Brother track down all the non-compliant people that get in the way of Big Brother? Well, after the untimely death of the Obama administration’s official email flag@whitehouse.gov, Barack Obama created a new site where you can rat out your evil Conservative neighbors and all those evil Conservatives on the internet. You can register at AttackWatch.com, which is run out of Obama’s election campaign, and report away. And to help you get started in your civic duties to report thought-crimes, you can just pick up the sites I’ve already listed in my sidebar under Race Traitors and Self-Proclaimed Right Wing Extremist™ Blogs. Also, don’t forget to go on Twitter and use the hashtag #AttackWatch to report the cat lady for not being a dog lady.

While you’re at it, report Hot Air and Patterico’s Pontifications.

How Much Sex Do Fifth-Graders Know?

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2011/09/16

That is the question Washington DC schools are about to get answered. Because Washington DC has a far too high teen pregnancy rate. So obviously the kids don’t know enough about sex and condoms, right? That’s the standard Liberal answer. Not enough knowledge. The DC schools will test 5th graders on human sexuality, contraception, and drug use in the Spring of 2012, because they obviously don’t know enough, at 11 years old, about being safely sexually active. But as RS McCain points out, it wasn’t a heavy amount of knowledge teens had in 1948 but rather a much stronger moral value which kept teen pregnancy from being the out of control problem it is today.

There was a stigma attached to extra-marital sexual activity back in 1948, and rightfully so, for social, economic, and health reasons. There was a stigma attached to drug use as well. But the modern Left, in all their brilliance, decided to rid the public of its very healthy stigmatization of immoral and very unhealthy life choices. What did that bring us? Broken homes, single parent households dependent on government handouts, high drop-out rates, an exploding drug problem, an explosion in STDs, and a generally decadent society.

Children don’t need to learn all about sexuality before they’re even old enough to date. Children don’t need to learn the “how to”s. That’s not the problem and that’s not the answer. A little old fashioned morality and Personal Responsibility (which is hated by Liberals) would go a long way in repairing all the damage the Leftist “stigma free zone” has wrought upon us. And it would help fix our Federal, State, and Local Budget problems as fewer people would be leeching off the taxpayers.
