Dishonest David Dewhurst Dumped

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2014/05/28

TEA Party alive and well in Texas

Two years ago, David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz were vying for US Senate. Dewhurt’s ads were all over Conservative talk radio. And the consensus was that what Dewhurst had to do was to keep on lying about Cruz in order to be elected, but all Cruz had to do was keep on telling the truth. And we all know how that election turned out.

Yes, I’m an unabashed Ted Cruz supporter. And it looks like so are most Texas Republican voters. In a Republican run-off for Texas Lieutenant Governor, Establishment Republican favorite David Dewhurst ran up against TEA Party favored Dan Patrick. And the seat Texans had re-elected Dewhurst to previously, that seat, the Lieutenant Governor’s chair, was overwhelmingly taken away from the sitting Republican Lieutenant Governor and handed over to the TEA Party. (You might want to remind me that it was only the Republican run-off, but if you do that, I’ll remind you it’s Texas, not some state where Democrats are competitive state-wide.)

How bad was the Establishment drubbing? How easily did the TEA Party candidate win? How about by a 30 POINT MARGIN?

Note to the McConnell/Boehner camp: The rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated.

Obama Fail Of The Day

Posted by John Hitchcock on 2011/09/22

So, Barack Obama has his “jobs” bill that is designed specifically to force all Republicans to “obstruct” it so Obama can have a talking point in an attempt to raise his abysmal and falling poll numbers. So, Obama decides what better place for a photo-op than a bridge that needs repair between the Speaker of the House’s state and the Senate Minority Leader’s state. So, Obama jets off to Cincinnati, Ohio, to tout the “shovel-ready” infrastructure spending in his “jobs” bill. And the hilarity ensues from there.

Remember the last big-spending bill that Obama touted as “shovel-ready”? That Porkulus bill that did not produce jobs and that Obama had to admit was not “shovel-ready”? Well, here’s round two. Andrew Malcom provides some of the detail in the Los Angeles Times. (I know, right? The normally sycophantic LA Slimes. HT Hot Air Headlines)

You know all those rusting bridges that President Obama wants to spend billions more dollars repairing to allegedly stimulate the economy?

He’s headed out to one today which he’s described as a “bridge that needs repair between Ohio and Kentucky that’s on one of the busiest trucking routes in North America.” It is on a busy trucking route, spanning the Ohio River between Covington, Ky., and Cincinnati.

It’s the Brent Spence Bridge. It doesn’t really need repairs. It’s got decades of good life left in its steel spans. It’s just overloaded. The bridge was built to handle 85,000 cars and trucks a day, which seemed like a lot back during construction in the Nixon era.

Today, the bridge sort of handles more than 150,000 vehicles a day with frequent jam-ups.

RTWT.

The bridge doesn’t need repairs. It’s not scheduled to get the repairs it doesn’t need. A new bridge is scheduled to be built, at a cost of 3.2 billion dollars, to ease the congestion. But it’s not scheduled to start for another four years. There goes that “shovel-ready” crapola again. And the false integrity again.

Oh, and guess which state the Ohio River is in. Ohio? Wrong. Ohio’s border stops at the river’s edge. So, touting a “shovel-ready” that won’t start for another four years job to repair a bridge that isn’t in need of repairs and isn’t scheduled for repairs in a state that isn’t even responsible for repairing it is one huge compound fail.

UPDATE
Allahpundit weighs in on Obama’s dishonest campaigning in Ohio.

Here’s video of him in front of the bridge today, following Maxine Waters’s advice to “fight” by stuttering his way to class-warrior glory. Speaking of things that are crumbling: His approval’s at 39/57 in Florida, which not long ago was a swing state if you can believe it, and a new Democratic poll of 60 battleground congressional districts held by Republicans finds that 50 percent support the GOP incumbent compared to 41 percent who support a Democratic challenger — a slight increase since the midterms last year. …

Obama’s reelection campaign, which started in January, 2009, got off to a rocky start and it’s been fail after fail after fail ever since.

days since the Democrats in Congress tried to pass a Budget. That’s 2 years plus an additional 90 days. The American people (yes, Harry Reid, they are indeed Americans) voted the Republican Party into majority in the House of Representatives in the November 2010 elections. After the Republicans were seated in January, they promptly went to work and passed a Budget in order to follow the Law since the Democrats before them were unwilling to obey the Law that requires a Budget. Then the Democrat Senator Harry Reid sat on his hands, declaring he is not even interested in doing a Budget, despite the Law requiring it.

The debt ceiling is being hit. The Republican House, after passing the Budget that the Senate is still sitting on, passed the Cut, Cap and Balance + Balanced Budget Amendment debt ceiling raiser. Harry Reid’s Democrat Senate is sitting on it, refusing to even have a vote.

The Republican House passed a revised “compromise” (how do you compromise when you’re the only position at hand?) John Boehner debt ceiling raising bill since the Harry Reid Democrat Senate refused to act on CCB+BBA. Democrat Harry Reid promptly sat on the Boehner Bill (after all 51 Democrats and 2 Independents who caucus with the Democrats signed a letter declaring the Boehner Bill dead before it even got out of the House).

Socialist Democrat Barack Obama has never once provided any plan to cut spending and raise the debt ceiling, while at the same time demanding Republicans compromise with him.

While Republicans are busily offering plans, Democrats are busily obstructing and flinging poo from the sidelines as they refuse to enter the field of battle.

Back to those 820 days since the Democrats in Congress bothered to obey the law by passing a Budget: The most recent Continuing Resolution to keep the Federal government funded through the rest of Fiscal Year 2011 will expire in October, meaning we’re going to keep talking about the Budget in September and beyond. The Republican House will pass a FY2012 Budget. The Democrat Senate will sit on it. And a new round of battles over yet another Continuing Resolution to keep the Federal Government funded due to the intransigence of the Democrats in Congress will ensue.

All four Barack Obama years will be years of over 1,000,000,000,000 dollar deficits and only one of the four Obama years will see an actual Budget, that being the 2009 year — despite the Law requiring a Budget.

Yes, it is the Democrats who are fiscally irresponsible. Yes, it is the Democrats who are in violation of the Law. Yes, it is the Democrats who are obstructionist. Yes, it is the Democrats who keep saying “no”: No to obeying the Law requiring a Budget; no to presenting a Budget; no to presenting a deficit reduction plan to raise the debt ceiling; no to compromising with Republicans.

I can see 2012 from my window.
