Reading over at ESPN, the Golden State Warriors have a plan to build a new basketball home in San Fransisco, moving away from Oakland. Every penny of the construction cost will be paid for by — you might want to sit down — the Golden State Warriors. And people are suing to prevent its being built.
Although the Warriors agreed to buy the land and build the arena with their own funds, their quest to play in a new facility hasn’t been smooth sailing. They shifted focus to Mission Bay in April after another site didn’t work out.
The lawsuit claims that, in hurrying to get the arena built in Mission Bay, the city agencies violated the California Environmental Quality Act by bypassing urban planning standards as well as violating the community plan, which doesn’t provide for a structure like an arena to be built.
It’s that whole Leftist “you didn’t go through the 500 inspections and we didn’t want it anyway” business that makes every prospective business owner and any who want to move or expand pull his hair out.
One of the lawsuits claims it will cause people being rushed to the hospital to die because the Arena will be close to the hospital. But two points refute that reason for the lawsuit. One, the hospital built very close to the stadium that houses the San Fransisco Giants (or is it the 49ers?), so that wasn’t a concern when the hospital was built. And two, the Warriors (and how are they allowed that name?) have already planned to prevent all traffic from using the road by the hospital, thus, keeping that road clear for the hospital.
If that’s not nutty enough, I responded in that thread and got a completely la-la land response from a Leftist.

Our erstwhile commenter John The Liberal, he of the silly hat and still proprietor of American Liberal Times, seems to have embarked on a journey that has finally lead him over the edge. Although we neither comment there any longer, nor attempt to, an occasional glance at the raving political lunacy fulminating from his blog, serves as a healthful reminder to ourselves not to let things get too out of hand; lest we end up like that. Despite his constant pleas for comment, readers of this blog will recollect that John The Liberal not only banned conservative commenters from his blog, but also reported that he went through years of postings in order to purge all trace of their past presence. This does not necessarily mean that he does not himself read conservative blogs, since his postings on his own site often reference and rail against the contemptuous views which conservatives have reportedly displayed both toward him and his product.
Now, unless he is making this up, or is referencing very old comments or newly screened comments he does not allow to post, he is reading conservative comments on conservative blogs.
Yet nursing these grievances is not quite enough. Apparently the mere fact that conservative infidels can see his blog at all is too much insult for John The Liberal to bear. Mr. Hitchcock of this blog, once reported that he was unable to return the favor of John the Liberal’s visit here, because he was peremptorily banned from American Liberal Times blog or filtered out before having even gotten one comment posted. Now, as if to prove that John The Liberal and his loyal crew of vomit eaters need no stinkin’ outsiders at all, John The Liberal, has, and apparently intentionally, banned anyone not previously cleared from even looking at his site.

“President Barack Obama is expected to issue an executive order Thursday paving the way for the deployment of National Guard forces to Liberia to help contain the Ebola outbreak there, sources told NBC News.
The sources said that eight engineers and logistical specialists from the Guard, both active-duty and reservists, would probably be included in the first deployment. They are expected to help build 17 Ebola treatment centers, with 100 beds apiece. The sources said that no decision had been made.
Defense Department officials said that the executive order was necessary to speed the deployments, and would allow the president to send additional forces as needed. Health officials have recorded more than 2,400 Ebola deaths in Liberia, the highest of any country.”
The National Guard? There have undoubtedly been numerous changes for the worse in our laws in recent years, but when did the President get the authority to call up National Guardsmen for duty beyond our borders on his own imperial say so?
What the hell has this country, and have its people, become?

In partial answer to my own question we have this from the Heritage Foundation. I have made paragraphs in some cases where none were before in order to emphasize certain points.:
“In the 1980s, governors again resisted a presidential call for the militia (National Guard). Some of them objected to the deployment of their states’ National Guard troops to Central America. Led by Minnesota governor Rudy Perpich, these governors withheld their consent to federally ordered National Guard active duty training, as was their prerogative under then current federal law.
In response, Congress enacted the Montgomery Amendment, which prohibited governors from withholding consent for National Guard active duty service outside the United States.
Perpich filed suit against the Department of Defense, arguing that the Montgomery Amendment was unconstitutional because it infringed on the militia training authority granted to the states under Article I, Section 8, Clause 16.
Perpich also sought to enjoin the use of Minnesota National Guard troops in any training outside the United States that did not have the governor’s consent. Ultimately, the Supreme Court upheld the supremacy of presidential control over the operations of the militia when called into actual service of the United States.
Like James Monroe and Justice Joseph Story, the Court held that a state governor could not veto the use of a state militia when called upon by the nation in accordance with Congress’s constitutional power and the President’s constitutional authority.
Recent Presidents have made more use of the National Guard as a reserve, calling units up for long periods of duty abroad, in actions in the two Gulf Wars, Bosnia, and Afghanistan.”
All this still leaves open the matter of Congressional assent, and under what legal authority the militia is being “called into the actual service of the United States”.
In an update to the Alton Nolen story, we have his mother’s assurance that it was not him, or the real him, that was there when this thing “happened”.

In case you have been living under a rock, Travis County DA Lehmberg got busted driving on the wrong side of the road with a BAC of .238, or nearly 3 times the legal limit. She then tried to use her position of authority as a bludgeon to get out of her criminality. Among other things, “get me your boss”, spitting at people, kicking things, having to be placed in full restraints while seated all describe Travis County DA Lehmberg’s activities while drunk.
“You’re going to ruin my political career.” Yeah, I think you did that yourself, you belligerent fool, other than the fact you work in Travis County. Keep Austin Weird. “I’m a District Attorney, I’m a District Attorney.” Continuous power-play by the drunk criminal DA of Austin.
And Travis County DA Lehmberg refused to resign her position as chief Law Enforcement Officer in Austin, and head of the “kill the political corruption” unit for the whole of Texas. Governor Perry declared she needs to go, or her office will not get the money for the “kill the political corruption” unit that is normally sent from the budget of the State of Texas to the budget of the DA of Travis County. Imagine that. A convicted criminal is ordered to step aside or money from all the taxpayers of the entire state of Texas won’t be sent to the convicted criminal. And since the convicted criminal doesn’t like when the Governor tells her she is in no position to judge whether other politicians are corrupt, she decides to work to file bogus Felony charges against the person who thinks a convicted criminal is not the type of person who should be looking for corrupt politicians.
I have come up with a solution of my own. Move the “investigate corrupt politicians” unit to neighboring Bell County. It’s right next door to Travis County. And it’s growing rapidly. And it’s not hyper-Left-Wing. Just take the power completely away from those who destroyed Tom DeLay for purely political reasons, and is trying to destroy Rick Perry for purely political reasons. There are multiple years of evidence Travis County (Keep Austin Weird) cannot be expected to have integrity or Honor in their investigations.
So, how did I come up with the title of this article? Where does the Burka come in? Well, now that you asked, Paul Burka is an editor of a dead-tree magazine in Travis County, more notably called Austin, Texas. Keep Austin weird. Two years ago, Paul Burka wrote an amazingly dishonest and agenda-fed article attacking, among others, Governor Rick Perry. So perhaps you heard of the command to evangelize at one time.

The Contractor shall provide unarmed escort staff, including management, supervision, manpower, training, certifications, licenses, drug testing, equipment, and supplies necessary to provide on-demand escort services for non-criminal/non-delinquent unaccompanied alien children ages infant to 17 years of age, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year. Transport will be required for either category of UAC or individual juveniles, to include both male and female juveniles. There will be approximately 65,000 UAC in total: 25% local ground transport, 25% via ICE charter and 50% via commercial air. Escort services include, but are not limited to, assisting with: transferring physical custody of UAC from DHS to Health and Human Services (HHS) care via ground or air methods of transportation (charter or commercial carrier), property inventory, providing juveniles with meals, drafting reports, generating transport documents, maintaining/stocking daily supplies, providing and issuing clothing as needed, coordinating with DHS and HHS staff, travel coordination, limited stationary guard services to accommodate for trip disruptions due to inclement weather, faulty equipment, or other exigent circumstances. In emergency situations, the Contractor shall be called on to provide temporary shelter locations (such as trailers) with shower facilities for juveniles who are pending placement with HHS when bed space is unavailable nationwide for extended periods of time. A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say.
In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution. “There were several of us who wanted to talk about the camps, but the agents made it clear we would be arrested,” a psychiatric counselor told me. “We were under orders not to say anything.”
The sources said workers were guarded by a security force from the Baptist Family Children’s Services, which the Department of Health and Human Services hired to run the Lackland Camp.The sources say security forces called themselves the “Brown Shirts.” “It was a very submissive atmosphere,” the counselor said. “Once you stepped onto the grounds, you abided by their laws – the Brown Shirt laws.
I could not believe this when I first saw it in my e-mail, I thought …
Well, wait a second and let me back up.
A few years ago, more than a handful actually, I subscribed to a German news service which was headquartered in D.C.
The reason I did so was because, ironically enough, I wanted to keep abreast of legislation in Europe related to firearms ownership control, and crime trends.
It turned out that although I did receive some useful news links, especially concerning crime and economic trends in Germany, I was able to accomplish much of what I really wanted to do with my own research.
So I cancelled, and after wrangling for some months, eventually managed to put an end to the service.
Imagine my surprise then, when about a year ago I started receiving e-mails from “EIN” ( that was the name of the service) containing links to various news items from around the globe. Well, sort of from around the globe. Many concerned the United States, and I’ll be “doggoned” if the strangest thing hadn’t happened. It seemed almost as if some breathless politically “progressive” intern from the Huffington (Facebook conversations reflecting community values only please) Post had assumed control over news item selection and captioning.
My routine became, click to open, quick to glance, click to close.
So, anyway today I opened up the latest EIN “World News Monitoring” e-mail , and found that according to EIN News Editors’ Picks for June 27, 2014, Walmart was peddling sniper rifles to all and sundry.
This “sniper rifle” turns out to be a pellet gun – a crummy pellet gun. You know, of the same caliber as the standard BB gun, but with a higher velocity, and maybe suitable under some circumstances for dealing with smallish rodents where the law allows. Don’t shoot at that red squirrel if there is a window behind it Johnny!
Perhaps the EIN News writer, knows so little about guns that he or she doesn’t even understand the difference between a BB gun or a pellet gun on the one hand, and what they insinuate is a firearm on the other?
Well maybe. Perhaps the person I early on mocked as an apparently histrionic intern, is in fact British. That might explain it, since the alarmed reaction might then make some sense; since even toy BB or air soft guns are disallowed in that so-called “cradle of liberty”. As is when you come right down to it, so much else illegal in Great Britain nowadays, such as for example, truly free political speech.
But, you would at least think that someone, other than a transparently lying propagandist, or a timid twenty-something ignoramus from Great Britain, or their American equivalents, would exercise a final editorial supervision over the titling of these links: so as to at least minimize, if nothing else, the ridiculousness of the situation when the redounding stupidity of their presentation became, as it inevitably would, comically apparent to all and tarred the writer with the label “IMBECILE”.
What are these idiots thinking? Oh that’s right. Idiots don’t.
