No surprise with Kennedy and DOMA

It’s too early to offer any critical analysis of the exact legal “reasoning” involved in the S.C. decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act. There will be plenty of folks who will soon enough find that an absorbing hobby.

Suffice to say however, that given Kennedy’s history of rhapsodic pseudo-religious trilling over the dignity those undignified acts of supposed self-creation which constitute the deconstructed modernist adult’s absurd version of “natural law”, it comes as no surprise.

What’s also to be expected is that in line with current leftist, or communitarian if you prefer, thinking, will come more in the way of official posits that everyone has not only a duty to tolerate to some degree annoying and pointless behaviors in others, but also to positively affirm them as worthy of your own support and recognition, and to help “create” the conditions and context under which “all” may find personally satisfying social fulfillment.

Thus, the corollary of their right to seek pleasure or satisfaction, no matter how absurd or preposterous or uninteresting to others, implies – so the “reasoning” goes – your duty not merely to tolerate, but to affirm as worthy and to underwrite the opportunity.

You think you are going to be able to just back off and let them reap what they sow? Think again. You are part of it, like it or not. They will make sure of that. It’s all they have.

But we, already knew that.

    So now, is beastiality going to be OK’d? Polygamy?, Incest?, Anything goes. We have lost our moral standing in the world. June 26, 2013 the day SCOTUS killed us.

    I’m afraid that the world’s moral standing, the western world’s certainly, is not at all better than ours.

    And in answer to your “what’s next?” question, the answer is and has been for a long time among the progressives among us, “Yes, anything, anything goes”.

    Why not? It all ends in entropy, they say, anyway. They aren’t even, on their own system of interpretation and on their own understandings, what most of edified humanity have historically conceived a human, as distinctly human, to be.

    The supreme court, through it’s glabrous cheeked, swollen faced, kumbaya chanting spokes … uh … person, has, as in so many cases before, anointed itself as the chief social engineering body for the new humanity, and law and the principle of constitutionalism or any other limiting principle, be damned. The judicial revolution and all of that.

    It will only get worse of course: more deeply and radically demanding of your allegiance, more interfering and directive of your own personal choices. It must, because all the organisms-of-the-left have, ultimately, is their post human hive-life values. And those values don’t, cannot per definition, allow an opt-out choice for those who do not wish to affirm their dysfunction or share their autogenic pain.

    Now conservatives will express outrage, but eventually cease resisting, as their reluctance to call a spade a spade lest they have to really do some serious moral sorting, eventually sends them grumbling back to their televisions. They simply don’t have, most of them, the confidence in their own values that those who aim to destroy them have in theirs.

    But, we all knew this too.

    After all, it’s hard to look your neighbor or relative in the face and recognize an enemy of an edified and worthwhile private or social life. Even if we know it to be true.

    The so-called progressives might be no more than obvious moral turds floating in a stinking pot, and inviting – no, absurdly demanding – that you join in, in the name of a common “humanity” they long ago abandoned. But their tactics seem to work.

    More of Kennedy’s patented style of horseshit puling about state granted “dignity”. Kennedy, the silly son-of-a-bitch, should have gone into social work. Oh yeah , he obviously thinks he did …

    It boils down it appears to be all about giving dignity to the undignified and ridiculous by state decree.

    “The State’s decision to give this class of persons the right to marry conferred upon them a dignity and status of immense import …”

    “The question is whether the resulting injury and indignity is a deprivation of an essential part of the liberty protected by the Fifth Amendment …”

    “DOMA’s history of enactment and its own text demonstrate that interference with the equal dignity of same-sex marriages …”

    Then from the decision, a Kennedy classic trill ..

    “… those same-sex couples who wish to define themselves by their commitment to each other. …”.

    … which is a virtual reprise of his usual theme …

    “At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life.”

    Yeah, government dignity: In other words, the state gravely bestowing the absurd upon the ridiculous.

    Great points! The only problem is we conservatives ALLOW these tactics to work.
