Truth Before Dishonor

I would rather be right than popular

Last night while reading about all sorts of highly troubling goings-on in this country and around the world, I started reminiscing about the simpler times way back when. Funny how times were always simpler when looking back on them.

I remember the late 1970s, when Jimmy Carter was destroying the economy, devastating the military and morale within the military, and basically turning everything he touched into Iron Oxide. Nightline was running “America Held Hostage: Day (whatever)”. But the very underpinnings of the US didn’t seem from my perspective to be at risk.

But my memory was focused on a different matter back in the late 1970s: going to the Jr High dances and getting on the dance floor, looking for a girl to dance with as we heard

I also remembered years later, another period of relaxed, peaceful, easy-going beautiful time. I would turn PBS on and my daughter and I would sit down to watch

Bob Ross had a wonderful wit, a captivating style, a heart of gold, and beautiful works of art.

After that show was over, we just sat there and waited for the next show to come on.

It was another excellent show, although we did have issues with some of the narrative. But those were simpler, more relaxing times
